Jeremiah Thrown into the Cistern. Jeremiah 38: 1 – 16

God shows me this prophet again. This time he has held captive in a cistern, a water
tank.
Jeremiah tells of the dire consequences of not obeying his warning, but also promises
of reward if they do as he bids
(sounds familiar),
but the leaders do not want to hear it and further feel he is a threat to their way of life, and that his intention is to create chaos and harm to the people
(yep, just like someone else).
The king. Zedekiah, is swayed by those that surround him
(again, remind you of someone else whose fate was swayed by those around him?).
Zedekiah, though, was not a hard man.
He followed his gut when asked for Jeremiah’s release. The king believed in the Lord and had faith in what Jeremiah said. The King’s motive was to find out what was to come.
Both benefited.
Sometimes it’s easier to go with the crowd, but we are to stand out and to stand firm in what God leads us to do.
