This challenge that God offers us can be daunting and sometimes feels impossible.
As a self-centered human being who wants to do things my way, I struggle with this daily.
Titus reminds us that we are to treat others well, doing good for their benefit.
Although I am in the process of learning to be other-oriented in my thoughts and
actions, it doesn’t come easily.
Jesus showed compassion and mercy to others, giving it all so we could be “heirs of eternal life.”
This thought humbles me. Doing good and being honorable are, in themselves, good things.
Imagine a world where people live by these two principles.
Titus says we are to avoid dissensions and divisions because they do not profit us, and we are to keep separate so that we are not harmed by their confusion.
So simple, so hard.
