The Feast of Weeks. Leviticus 23: 15 – 22

Old Testament rituals were very specific, and strict observation was required and expected. Christianity loosened some of those requirements as expectation, but still hold value as tradition and, I think, guidance.

These feasts were reminders to the people of who God is and offered opportunities to revere Him.

I think we could use a little more reverence for Him.

The Festival of Weeks was to offer fruits from the harvest, first fruits, and to celebrate with joy and thankfulness for His provision.

The sacrifices and offerings made to God seem so strange to me. But we don’t really farm anymore, and we don’t really have communal gatherings. Instead, as a Christian family, we have fellowship and milestones.

The harvest was important and still is, but in a much different way as people need to eat. Food sustains us, but it can be so easy to forget that it is the Lord who sustains us.

Whether we farm it ourselves or we pick it up from a store, we must not forget to show Him our appreciation.
