The watchman protects the people and is responsible for keeping others informed of the dangers that come.
The prophet, like Ezekiel, has a greater responsibility to the people. God speaks through the prophet, but the prophet must deliver the message. If this purpose isn’t carried out, the prophet is held accountable for the results.
Scary.
Is the prophet credited for doing the right thing?
Ezekiel tells us we cannot rest in our previous righteousness; it does not cover any future transgressions. We are to regularly practice what we know is right and good.
The world may say that this or that is right, but only God’s way is right.
We must remain in our righteousness.
God will judge us by our ways.
Lord, help me remain steadfast in your ways.
