Seeking the truths of life by just talkin’ to God

“Parable of the Marriage Feast” Matthew 22: 1-14

Jesus spoke often in parables. We learn and connect better through metaphor and analogy. What can be delivered dryly can also be conveyed vividly for emotional connection.

The people of His day (on earth) could understand the preparation and honor it would have meant for a king to throw a party for his son’s wedding and to get an invite! Wow! Yet, Jesus tells of a wedding where guests refused to come, even abusing the messengers.

Why didn’t the people want to come?

It doesn’t say, but it does say the king consequently deemed them unworthy and gave the invitation to others of a different class of people. In his great insight, he included proper clothes to fit in with the formal setting.

One uninvited tried to attend but was called out and cast out.

Jesus shows that we are all invited and can choose to come but only through His promise.

I am grateful that I was invited. I did not immediately accept his invitation wholeheartedly, but I hope to honor Him for asking by being clothed properly after discarding my rags.
