Daniel studied the books and learned of the fate of the future. Daniel acknowledged how wrong (we) the population was: doing sinful things, not listening to God and His commandments, nor listening to His servants who try to wake (us) the people up.
The Lords grows weary of (our) rebellion and sends wake up calls that are to hard to ignore – but still He takes care of His own.
Daniel speaks to God’s commands of destruction. We don’t want to think of God in such terms. We have pigeon-holed Him into a loving God, but He demands holiness, and (we) still take Him for granted.
Daniel tells of how the people had “become an object of scorn and a contemptuous byword.”
We are entering this phase.
Daniel (and we) seek God’s compassion and mercy, seeking forgiveness for the faults of (our) nation.
I trust you, Lord, to preserve what you choose.
I remain protected in You.
