The strongest man alive had a weak spot with his source of strength.
In life, we all have something that keeps us down or can tear us down, and we all have a special gift that makes us strong.
I have an affinity for wine. This often benign thing has tried to destroy me, at worst, and always comes between me and God. I’m not an alcoholic, but it’s always something ever present that can interfere in what is good.
Samson had an affinity for women, and he also had a lot of enemies. The only way they could overcome him was to attack his source of strength- his connection with God.
The world is attacking our source of strength with new vigor.
Delilah was the tool that came between him and his God-given gift of physical strength. He gave in and lost.
Be careful who you love.
Samson had warning of Delilah’s intent as she tested each falsehood he offered. Yet he could not refuse her.
When we can’t refuse something that keeps us from God, we eventually will lose.
It’s something I must keep in mind.
