David’s destiny was clearly set by God.
How I envy David’s assurance of his place on the earth, but what a weight that came with this knowledge.
There is a burden in serving the Lord.
It’s a burden I ran from for a long time, and God allowed me to sit on the fence for a determined amount of time. That time is up.
David had a boldness to step out in faith. His boldness was usually tempered in humility, which the Lord loves, but he was not infallible. When he became king, his new followers had already seen his mighty works, so they had faith in his leadership from the beginning.
God shows us his power, so we can know he is on our side. He is God.
Doing the right thing isn’t always easy and sometimes goes against our nature, but if God calls, we do well to listen, for He will provide what is needed to achieve His goal – for His glory, and for our benefit.
