Jesus found his place in the temple.
It makes me wonder how he was before he used his teaching. Was he a quiet learner, absorbing what they taught? Did he debate his teachers?
He did the religious rituals of his time, including being circumcised, a common practice still today, but not usually as a religious right but for sanitary purposes.
As first born, he was also set apart for the Lord, as was custom.
I didn’t know this.
First born is first fruit, so it makes sense, but I wonder why this Mosaic law existed and if the first is then more connected or beholden to the Lord.
Jesus, truly the first, is brought to synagogue for dedication and blessed for by Simeon, who awaited the Lord’s return. Unlike others, Simeon recognized him as savior for the Gentiles. As did Anna, a prophetess who could be considered the first evangelist. She proclaimed him to the world when he was just eight years old.
Both lived holy lives connected to God, and God revealed something to them that others’ couldn’t see.
As a first born, I wonder how this would apply to me?
