The Prodigal Son. Luke 15: 11 – 32

The familiar scene and story tells of a son’s urge to live a life other than the one he is living.

This prodigal daughter, also the black sheep, has lived the life of a fun loving, pleasure-seeking, carnal-spirited girl and woman. More than anything, I sought adventure and novelty.

I still enjoy new experiences, but now my focus is on spiritual growth and eternal purpose.

I have come home.

I left God, but He never left me. Hallelujah!

Jesus has just been telling parables of lost sheep and a lost coin, but he makes his point clear in The Prodigal Son parable: the son asked his father for his money, wasted it, found himself alone with nothing, and ironically a famine happened while he had no means. But again ironically, he knew he had a place to go. He could go back to the father who was watching and waiting. Not everyone was happy to see him, but his father welcomed him back with open arms.

God always waits for our return and rejoices, but there will be opposition to our return by others who do not understand.
