Gideon’s 300 Chosen Men. Judges 7: 1 – 18

Gideon was chosen to fight against God. Or is it against a god of his day, Baal?
He knew that God would be with him, so he set to his purpose.
It must have been confusing to him when God told him to decrease the number of men to take into battle. But he also had had confirmation in God’s clear answer to his request for surety.
I imagine myself as one of his soldiers and hate to say that I would probably have been one of the ones who whooped it up at the change. To have the opportunity to go home and not have to fight.
I would not have been alone as 2/3 left.
But my heart wants to believe I would have stayed.
I want to be used greatly for God, and to do so I must break from the crowd.
God gave Gideon clear direction and those uncommitted the chance to leave. Then he omitted those who weren’t prepared.
God’s preparations are sufficient.
If we stay in His will and listen, we can win.
He will give us the courage needed, despite what seems insurmountable.
